What led to our involvement with this project
The wife of Brian Scott, our Vice President of Estimating and Procurement, is a local pediatrician in the area. When her practice started thinking of moving to a new office, they contacted us to take on the job. Not only does Dr. Scott’s husband work for Contractors Inc, but there’s a further connection — the three children of Rusty Reynolds and the Project Manager on this job are all patients of Dr. Scott. What we were tasked to do
This project was a ground-up build, so the first part of the work involved building out the framework and trusses. Once the skeleton of the new structure was built, the work on the exterior facade began. This included stucco, stone work, new roof, shingles and cornice work.Since this was a brand-new building, there was also lots of interior work that needed to be done. This included drywall, painting, trim work, sheetrock finish with orange peel texture and concrete flooring with a clear epoxy coating.
Electrical work consisted of:
- A commercial lighting package with all LED fixtures and motion sensing controls.
- A full commercial fire alarm system.
- A monitored security system with multiple cameras.
Carpentry finish included:
- White shaker cabinets with laminate countertops.
- Five-panel fire rated doors with bronze hardware finishes.
- Pine baseboards and trim mold.
The bathrooms were finished out with:
- Wall mounted sinks
- Touchless faucets
- Soap dispensers
- Paper towel dispensers
Challenges
One of the main challenges with this project revolved around materials. Shortages of windows and doors, as well as price increases impacted this project. In mid-March, the Project Manager hit another roadblock when it was discovered that the site developer had left debris in the water main. With the interior of the building 99% complete, this was a setback that prevented them from completing their final inspections.
