Occurrence that led to our involvement
The McClure Family Farmhouse is one of many historic buildings in Louisville, Kentucky. It was built in the early 1800s after James Boston purchased the land, and was owned by many other prominent locals throughout the years. The farmhouse was added to the historic registry in 1984 as one of the earliest examples of a log cabin structure in Jefferson County. The McClure Family Farmhouse is a double-pen log house connected by a passageway to a one-room stone building (a garage and second-story were added later). The historical site also includes the springhouse, which is still standing to the south. The farmhouse is now on the grounds of SpringHouse Apartments, who reached out to Contractors Inc late 2019 to restore it to its former glory. What we were tasked to do
The farmhouse needed to be brought up to code, and renovated with period-correct materials to reestablish its original design. This included the challenge of finding exterior logs and masonry that reflected the original materials. The design and finish needed to be approved by the historical society of Louisville, so we also had to make sure the contractors we assigned were up to the job of creating period-correct finishes.Steps
